New album

“Love and Other Songs”

out September 19th

My third album “Love and Other Songs” is a collection of songs I’ve written about love, as well as sorrow, the world and traveling. Yet another piece of work conveying my feelings and thoughts on these topics.

It was partly recorded in Florence, Italy, in December of 2024, by Håkon Gebhardt (Das Boot Studio), with just my producer Mathias Angelhus and I playing guitar, synth, some percussion, and singing. We worked on the lyrics for Fare Thee Well and recorded the base track for It had to be You, Straight Into My Arms and Going Home. These few days were meant as a demo session, sketching out the songs for the album, but ended up being the foundation for the songs and the record, with help from the much appreciated winter sun, Italian red wine and air of the city.

Most of the album was recorded in Sørgården Studio in Ler, Norway, in January 2025, with the whole band spending four days and nights together. I played a CP70 piano and sang while we all played together, later putting down the keeper vocals and grand piano (keeping some of the CP70 as well). Recording engineer Åsmund worked harder than anyone staying put while the rest of us tipsy musicians wanted to keep on playing and recording during the night hours. Wind was recorded like this one night, as well as When it comes to Love and some others. (Not all of the songs made it to the record, but they’ll come along later I hope.)

Last adjustments, vocals and backing vocals was recorded in Nyhavna Studio in Trondheim, Norway. Mathias and I finished lyrics and sowing it all together and my dear friends Johanna Reine-Nilsen and Veslemøy Narvesen laid some backing vocals. We then recorded strings in Øra Studio with Trondheimssolistene, arranged by the very best Amund Storløkken Åse.

Playing on the record is: Sara Fjeldvær (vocals, grand piano, CP70, percussion), Mathias Angelhus (acoustic and electric guitar, banjo, backing vocals), Amund Storløkken Åse (vibraphone, Mellotron, bass synth), Vegard Lien Bjerkan (synths, Mellotron, grand piano), Johannes Konstad Brevik (electric guitar, pedal steel), Andreas Rukan (bass), Øyvind Leite (drums, anvil), Håkon Gebhardt (percussion), Johanna Reine-Nilsen (backing vocals), Veslemøy Narvesen (backing vocals).

Mixed by Bård Ingebrigsten and mastered by Karl Klaseie. Released on Fjordgata Records.

Singer-/songwriter Sara Fjeldvær is based in Trondheim, Norway, and writes pop/folk music. Her songwriting is nuanced and intimate with captivating lyrics, distinct vocals and warm instrumentation.

Fjeldvær grew up on the island Hitra on the coast of Norway. Raised in a house full of instruments in a small community, inspiration was no shortage. Spending her early teens listening to Laura Marling, Susanne Sundfør and her fathers piano playing, Fjeldvær started writing songs from an early age. She later discovered The Who, King Crimson and Bob Dylan among others, and went on to study Performing Jazz at The Music Conservatory at NTNU, expanding her songwriting further. While studying she released her self-titled debut album (2021) and EP “Best Love” (2022), both recorded in Nyhavna Studio in Trondheim. Her second album “Stars” (2024) was produced by Mathias Angelhus, with whom she later co-wrote and released the album “Like Waves” (2024).

Actively touring in Norway and elsewhere, Fjeldvær has written and recorded her third solo album “Love and Other Songs” coming September 19th 2025.
